LG to release the LG Marquee CDMA

LG has quite a lot of interesting products in its catalogue. In fact, its smartphones are some of the best in the market even though there aren’t many of them. One of the good ones is the LG Marquee which is a CDMA smartphone powered by Android version 2.3. It has quite a big screen as well although not too big at a size of 4-inches. The screen also comes with a 700-nit NOVA touchscreen which is effective in bright daylight.

Underneath its 4-inch body lies a 1GHz processor although the amount of RAM available inside it is not announced. However, the storage space inside the LG Marquee is at a paltry amount of 4GB. The camera on the LG Marquee is 5MP which is capable of capturing 720p video. Its front facing camera on the other hand is a 2MP camera. GPS is also present on this device as well.

The price for this phone is $55 without any contract under Boost Mobile. However, with Boost Mobile Android Monthly Unlimited plan with Shrinkage, users can get free talk and text messaging as well as Internet. At this price, it is definitely a bargain smartphone although it runs on CDMA instead of GSM.

iPad 3 expected to hit the market in March 2012

The rumors are springing up for Apple’s iPad 3 that is supposed to arrive in March this year. Some are saying that may be, in the next two weeks, iPad3 will be hitting the shelves.

If we compare it to Apple’s earlier, releases it would perfectly fit as first iPad model came in April 2012 and iPad 2 arrived in the last week of March.

Bloomberg Report

According to the report of Bloomberg, “Apple iPad3 will be incorporating the HD screen, and the small pixels will give the image a printed material look.” A quad-core chip will increase efficiency and speed with 4G LTE support.

Report also stated that LTE is brought for the Apple iPad gadget before the iPhone as latest power technology and a bigger battery support the tablet. Bloomberg obtained this report from the three different sources related with the product.

Update for Production

The report has also revealed that Apple has already started the production of these gadgets at the Asian partners manufacturing units, as Foxconn in china is running the whole 24 hours a day.

The iPad launched earlier has been a massive hit generating more than $25 billion as sales revenue. Many companies tried to come up to the level of iPad but failed; however, Cupertino is hoping that the device will become the favorite choice of consumers.

Rumors are also saying that may be iPad 3 will not be good enough to reach the target, as iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S failed to do so. The time is the only answer for all these rumors.

Huawei unleashes the world’s thinnest phone

The Consumer Electronics Show or CES 2012 is an annually held event where manufacturers showcase some of their new products. There were a few successful products that were debuted in CES and amongst them are the Xbox, Blu-Ray DVD and a lot more. This year is the year of the thin devices where previously, Acer had announced the Aspire A5 which is now the world’s thinnest ultrabook. Huawei on the other hand, decided to join in the bandwagon by announcing the Huawei Ascend P1 S which is the world’s thinnest phone.

The Ascend P1 S is breathtakingly thin at a thickness of only 6.68mm. This makes it thinner than the Droid RAZR which has a thickness of 7.1mm. It features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen which has a resolution of 540×960 pixels and also has a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor as well. Suffice to say that this is one of the high-end products that Huawei could offer.

However, with the thin profile comes a sacrifice in battery life. It features only a 1670 mAh battery although should anyone wishes to have one that has a higher battery capacity, they can have a look at the Huawei Ascend P1 although at a thicker width of 7.69mm. These two devices will have Android 4.0 on board.

The New Xperia Phone Announced

The launch of Android based gadget, the Sony Xperia Ion, was announced on Monday although a release date or price details have not yet been announced. The handset is expected to be launched in a few months, in LTE 4G network of AT&T’s. Overall, it looks to be the best Xperia brand of Sony smartphones to be launched till date. Let us have a look to some of its details.

Specifications

It has a 4.6 inch display (HDMI), 12MP camera, TV launcher interface and a sleek design. It has 1280 x 720-pixel display resolution that uses Sony Bravia Engine. However, the best part of the now Sony turned Sony Ericsson is its camera quality which is unmatched by most mobile manufacturers.

Using With a Dock

The Sony Xperia Ion can be used with a docking arrangement and thus a larger display can be obtained. The dock is extremely much similar to the Motorola Webtop experience that can be used in gadgets like Droid Razr and Droid Bionic. One can view photos, play music, and send texts from the comfort of the sofa at home. Sony also claims that the phone is capable of being controlled by a TV remote!

Sony 9.4-inch Tablet S

The Sony Tablet S isn’t really one that everyone is familiar with. Sure, a lot of people have heard about the Apple iPad or the Amazon Kindle but not really the Tablet S. However, the Sony Tablet S is one that should be considered upon especially when it comes to a reputable company such as Sony.

The Sony Tablet S is an Android tablet device with a 9.4-inch screen which has a ten-point detection. In addition to that, it also has the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor which means that it is capable of doing computing in 1GHz. It is also equipped with a GB worth of RAM and comes with two flavors which are 16GB and 32GB respectively. It has a 5MP camera at the back and another VGA (0.3MP) camera at the front for video calling purposes.

Good thing for those that would want to have a look at this device because Sony is now slashing $100 off of its price tag. This would mean that users can get one of these for only $400 for its 16GB variant or $500 for its 32GB variant. At this price tag, it is comparable to other famous slates such as the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus or the ASUS Transformer.

Sony Cuts Down Tablet S Price to compete iPad3

If, you have not purchased Sony’s Tablet S Android slate till now then you must be lucky as Sony has slashed down its price by $100. There were speculations that the Android tablets will get cheaper in 2012, and Sony has wasted no time for cutting the prices of 16 GB Tablet S from $499 to $399, and the 32 GB model is cut down from $600 to $500.

More offers from Sony

Five free classic titles for PlayStation are also thrown by Sony along with music unlimited usage of 180 days as well as free downloads and credits from its Video unlimited store. May be the price cut is a little late as the holiday buying season is over. The design of Tablet S was nicely made otherwise this gadget has decent standards.

Competition with Apple iPad 3

Apple’s iPad 3 is coming in a few months and would be a strong competitor for Sony’s Tablet S and other Android gadgets running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But Sony is also keen to upgrade tablet S to Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future.

Sony’s S has 9.4 inch display with a curved design resembling a rolled back design which is quite convenient for holding. Tegra 2 CPU is the dual core processor with a 5MP rear camera.

Tab Smartphone Crossover

Samsung has added another smartphone to its Galaxy Series called Samsung Galaxy Note. Galaxy Note is much different than other phones, as it provides a 5.3 inch screen. The debate however still stands whether this phone is too big for a regular phone or too small for a tablet phone. Dell had launched a similar smartphone with a 5 inch screen called as Streak 5. Due to negative responses Dell stopped its production. Whether Galaxy Note will be any different or not we will have to wait and see.

Specifications of Galaxy Note

Check out the technical specifications of this crossover gadget.

  • 5.3 inch screen
  • Dual Core 1.4 GHz
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 Megapixel back camera and 2 Megapixel front camera
  • 16 GB or 32 GB storage
  • 9.65 mm thickness

Stylus – S Pen

Samsung Galaxy Note has also added the option of using a stylus called as S Pen. The S Pen was previously seen with HTC Flyer. The difference between with S Pen and stylus is that, the S pen comes with built in apps like taking notes, calendar, to-do things etc. Many other companies are also going to launch apps for the S pen.

Galaxy Note breaks 1 million products

Seems like Samsung has been making quite a name for itself in the world as previously, the Samsung Galaxy S II managed to get a healthy 10 million sales worldwide making it one of the most sought after smartphones after the iPhone. In fact, if compared with the iPhone 4S, the Samsung Galaxy S II would still have a better set of hardware. SGS II aside, the world now focuses on the new tablet-slash-phone which is the Samsung Galaxy Note.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a 5.3-inch tablet which comes with its own stylus and is somewhat different than most tablets available today. It isn’t too big neither is it too small but there must be an attractive feature that makes people interested with it as this particular device by Samsung managed to get a million units shipped worldwide. Some of the countries on which it managed to get a large volume of sales include France, Germany, Hong Kong and a few others.

This particular device will soon reach the US market although there is no telling what kind of alteration will be there in the US versions. The consumer would probably be seeing an LTE version of the device.

Samsung Galaxy S III to create buzz

Samsung has been making news for its recent launch, Galaxy S II and is all set to come back with a bang with its Galaxy S III which is even better than Galaxy Nexus and a 3D screen. The big screen phone would be welcome by the US consumers and the market is all set for the successor of Galaxy S II.

Features

As per the sources, Galaxy S III would come with a number of features including Super AMOLED Plus HD display (1280×720 resolution), a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM , 4G LTE, a 3D screen which would be glasses-free. The best part about the phone would be that it wouldn’t be smaller than Galaxy S II and would also be equipped with few beefy cameras similar to those of Galaxy S II which had 8 megapixel cameras which could shoot 1080p HD video.

LG to Bring Android 4.0 to Optimus

Here is good news, just at the time we were feeling really bad about Google freezing it Android 4.0 rollout to its Samsung Nexus S smartphone. Now, the popular electronics giant, LG, has promised to upgrade its Optimus line of smartphones to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

While LG had already stated sometime ago that it would soon bring the update to the Optimus, we now have a concrete release date as well. Users will be able to experience the power of Android 4.0 on their smartphones, in the second quarter of 2012.

LG has further stated that it will start to deliver the rather yummy Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade to the LG Optimus LTE, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Prada Phone, the LG Optimus myTouch Q, the LG Optimus Sol and the LG Eclipse. In Q3 2012, the LG Optimus Black, the LG Optimus Q2, the LG Optimus EX, the LG Optimus Big and the LG Optimus 3D will also get the same upgrade. Since each region and mobile carrier is different and follows different rules, the dates of release of the upgrade will vary in different countries of the world, LG said.

The company has also stated that it will give more details as it nears the upgrade launch date for each region.

Though we are delighted to hear this news, we also are aware that LG is still lagging behind many other manufacturers that have promised the same upgrade as well, to their respective smartphones and mobile devices. Sony Ericsson has officially announced a March or April 2012 upgrade. Though HTC, Samsung and Motorola are yet to formally announce their release date, we think it might happen somewhere in early 2012.

Well, we are awaiting this release with bated breath. How about you? Do you think Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be as special as it is expected to be?

Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1

The ASUS Transformer PRIME definitely turned around some heads as it is the first quad-core powered tablet with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor on board. The Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 inch tablet isn’t a quad-core tablet but it does have a dock as an optional accessory.

LTE is the way to go and the Motorola Droid Xyboard has that on board. This means that in an LTE covered territory, users can expect speeds around 22Mbps which is pretty fast to most people. As far as processor is concerned, the Xyboard 10.1 has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM which is the norm for most high-end tablets today. The screen on the other hand utilizes the IPS technology which means that it features color accuracy unlike any other tablet much like the technology behind the Kindle Fire or the iPad for that reason. It also has a stylus as well.

Right now it is powered by Android Honeycomb which is geared to tablets mostly. The default UI given by Motorola can be choppy at times. On board the Droid Xyboard are a few additional applications installed by default such as Amazon Kindle, Evernote (this is where the stylus comes in handy), Madden NFL 12 and a few others. Starting at a price of $530 for a 16GB version, we’re not pretty sure that this is one tablet worth purchasing over the Transformer Prime.

Blue Sky BL 10 Android Tablet

Blue Sky BL 10, also known as the Ebook BL 10 is a new Tablet by Blue Sky. This powerful Blue Sky Tablet runs on Google Android. Well, I would say that it is going to be another competitor of the world famous Apple Gadget, the iPad (What is iPad?). I have already written about another big competitor of Apple iPad, the Blackberry Rim.

One of the greatest feature or I would say the best feature in BL 10 Tablet is that it runs on VIA WM8505 (533 MHz) CPU, which is not that common for an Android Tablet, other tablets are usually powered by the Intel Atom Processors.

So overall, BL 10 is a 10.1-inch touch-screen light weight Android Tablet by Blue Sky which comes with a 0.3 Megapixel webcam, wi-fi, USB 2.0 port, headphone-microphone jack, upto 32 GB of NAND Flash Storage of and other power packed features.

RAmos W7 Mid Android Tablet

RAmos W7 is yet another Android Tablet which is now available in China and very soon it would be ready to compete with other tablets like HP slate, Apple iPad and other android tablets. The competition is really tough in the Chinese market.

The features and specifications of the RAmos W7 includes Android 1.5 OS, which is a little disappointing because android tablets like Dell Streak comes with Android 2.1, which is an advanced version of Android.

Other features include 600 MHz rocketchip processor, 128 MB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, 4.8 inch touch screen display, Wi-Fi and flash lite.

RAmos W7 Price and Release Date:

This powerful android tablet is now available in the market and the price of this tablet is around 999 Yuan, which is almost equal to $146, which is very much affordable. The price is reasonable than Apple iPad and other Android Tablets.

Ramos W7 Android Tablet is being awaited by people of China, it is expected to do very well in the Chinese Market.

Android tablet at only $120 with Ainol NOVO 7

Most people would assume that a tablet from China would not perform just as well as a tablet from a reputable company. In some cases they are true but with the price that the Chinese manufacturer has to offer, it is something not to be missed. One of the great Chinese products is the NOVO 7 by Ainol. Costing only $120, it may be one of the cheapest yet working tablets in the market.

First of all, it is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor although it doesn’t come from a noteworthy company. In addition to that, it also has a 512MB memory built in with 8GB storage inside. However, there is roughly 6 to 7GB space after it has been properly formatted though.

Some of the notable features on the NOVO 7 is a mini HDMI port as well as two flavors of Android which are version 2.3 (Gingerbread) as well as version 4 which is the Ice Cream Sandwich. Those that opt for the ICS version would definitely have the cheapest ICS tablet in the market. There is also a microSD card slot available with up to 32GB worth of space supported so users may expect a huge amount of space with the Ainol NOVO 7.

alternative of Galaxy S II : Samsung Galaxy Z

Galaxy Z is the less expensive version of Samsung Galaxy S II, reached the European continent at a price, yet unofficial, of $630 still.

The new Smartphone enchants us with a screen of 4.2-inch Super Clear LCD and 5 MP camera, LED flash and autofocus provided with, capable of video capture in HD resolution. Hardware platform is based on Tegra 2, version with dual-core processor at 1 GHz and 8 GB internal memory, expandable by attaching a microSDHC card.

Even if it is addressed to an audience with less crammed wallets, Samsung Galaxy Z seems to have had the full attention of the design team by displaying it in an elegant package with an awesome design, a good surface and polished aluminum finishes. Equipment list also includes a GPS receiver and FM radio, with Wi-Fi of course, 3G and Bluetooth 3.0. The chosen operating system is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, whose interface is shown on the surface of a capacitive screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

The whole package weighs only about 135 grams and includes a Li-Ion battery that promises up to 9 hours talk time. Don’t worry, we will keep you updated with the latest news about Galaxy Z.

iPhone app that helps you Manage Power

With the growing technology come innovative designs and products. In a recent event in Washington, an Indian lead team at the University of San Francisco and Arkansas has developed an energy management system. This system will allow monitoring the energy production as well as consumption in various homes which currently use solar and wind power for their energy requirements. The team is headed by Indian-origin researcher.

Features of the system

This iPhone based new application will warn the homeowners of any critical battery issues and will give a warning to the users to turn off their appliances. This application will also allow the users identify the ideal time for the jobs that needs additional power consumption. This can further help in reducing the power consumption by adjusting to the power states of the devices.

Advantage of this system

This system has the potential to strike a perfect equilibrium between absolutely automated control systems and reactive or manual control systems. While the former may cause irritation to the customers for turning off the TV while they are watching a program; the latter may not be ample efficient to avert vital battery conditions or any other related energy outages. Hence this iPhone based application takes the middle path and provides numerous benefits to the customers.

Sliding Keyboard for Apple iPhone

The Kiano 4 is a sliding keyboard for the iPhone. It has a built-in battery that has about 5 hours of typing and 30 hours of standby. It uses standard Bluetooth connectivity to operate. The Kiano online store has it in both black or white color. It’s listed price is $99 US.

Seems like a cool device for people who want the tactile feel of the keyboard. But I’m not sure how many people are willing to accept 78 grams of additional weight to carry around making their phone a bit bulkier.

Nevertheless, a pretty cool accessory for Apple iPhone 4 lovers out there!

8GB iPhone 4 to be released

Reuters had recently released an exclusive stating that there are high chances that an 8GB version of the iPhone 4 will be released in a few weeks. This comes to a surprise to many because previously, iPhone 4 was available only in 16GB and 32GB respectively.

The 8GB iPhone 4 will be a lot cheaper than the other two versions of iPhones as Apple struggles to gain market that it had once dominated but recently lost to two operating systems: Android and Windows Phone 7. As of date, there is no definite answer for the new price of the iPhone although experts speculate that the price will not go below the $200 line.

Many more speculate that the iPhone 5 will be announced on September although there are no clear dates as to when it would be. The new iPhone 5 will definitely be worth the wait and reports stated that Apple had urged its factories to speed up the production of 45 million units of the new iPhone. With such number of units, there is no telling whether there will still be inadequate supply of the iPhone during its first week of release as this had happened with the release of previous versions of the iPhone.

Galaxy Nexus available at reasonable price on Amazon Wireless

There is good news for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus lovers as it might not be available in Verizon retail shops but Amazon Wireless gives you the phones at half the cost. In fact, it is being sold for as low as $149.99 which sounds even great!

Exciting Offer on Amazon

The much awaited Smartphone comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and with a 4.65-inch, HD Super AMOLED display. The phone enthusiasts can grab the Smartphone at half the price from Amazon Wireless. Besides the phone is on back order and the shipping time is simply eight to nine days. Gadget maniacs seem quite excited by Nexus which also comes with software navigation buttons, efficient multitasking capabilities and also with Android Bea app so that any two phones can exchange information and also facial recognition software which is a great way for the users to unlock their phones.
