LG to release the LG Marquee CDMA

LG has quite a lot of interesting products in its catalogue. In fact, its smartphones are some of the best in the market even though there aren’t many of them. One of the good ones is the LG Marquee which is a CDMA smartphone powered by Android version 2.3. It has quite a big screen as well although not too big at a size of 4-inches. The screen also comes with a 700-nit NOVA touchscreen which is effective in bright daylight.

Underneath its 4-inch body lies a 1GHz processor although the amount of RAM available inside it is not announced. However, the storage space inside the LG Marquee is at a paltry amount of 4GB. The camera on the LG Marquee is 5MP which is capable of capturing 720p video. Its front facing camera on the other hand is a 2MP camera. GPS is also present on this device as well.



The price for this phone is $55 without any contract under Boost Mobile. However, with Boost Mobile Android Monthly Unlimited plan with Shrinkage, users can get free talk and text messaging as well as Internet. At this price, it is definitely a bargain smartphone although it runs on CDMA instead of GSM.

The New Xperia Phone Announced

The launch of Android based gadget, the Sony Xperia Ion, was announced on Monday although a release date or price details have not yet been announced. The handset is expected to be launched in a few months, in LTE 4G network of AT&T’s. Overall, it looks to be the best Xperia brand of Sony smartphones to be launched till date. Specifications

It has a 4.6 inch display (HDMI), 12MP camera, TV launcher interface and a sleek design. It has 1280 x 720-pixel display resolution that uses Sony Bravia Engine. However, the best part of the now Sony turned Sony Ericsson is its camera quality which is unmatched by most mobile manufacturers.



Using With a Dock

The Sony Xperia Ion can be used with a docking arrangement and thus a larger display can be obtained. The dock is extremely much similar to the Motorola Webtop experience that can be used in gadgets like Droid Razr and Droid Bionic. One can view photos, play music, and send texts from the comfort of the sofa at home. Sony also claims that the phone is capable of being controlled by a TV remote!

LG Revolution Droid 3

After the long anticipation, Droid 4 is still not found anywhere; Verizon is also looking to come to end. An informant had told that the Droid 3 last shipment is going to arrive in January, after the six months when the phone was launched.

Is Verizon Droid 4 emerging out?

Actually the news is not as shocking as the Droid 3 is one of the options for which the Android (Verizon) shoppers seeking for a keyboard. May be this is the time when Droid 4 is trying to emerge out. But it looks quite surprising that the Droid 3 is cutting off just in 6 months after coming to the market. The nicest thing is this that the Motorola and Verizon are planning to support the owners by upgrading it to Ice Cream Sandwich platform.



More devices getting the end

The informant also revealed that the other gadgets, including, LG Revolution (which came seven months before in the market), Palm Pre 2 and the BlackBerry Curve 3G are going to cover the cut. Verizon is probably going to cut MI-Fi hotspots. Moreover, Novatel LTE Jetpack final shipment is arriving in January, whereas, ZTE Fivespot and Samsung LTE Jetpack will not be shipped at all. Zero LTE hotspots will be on the sale, and we will be waiting for the new crew coming soon.

Samsung has added another smartphone to its Galaxy Series called Samsung Galaxy Note. Galaxy Note is much different than other phones, as it provides a 5.3 inch screen. The debate however still stands whether this phone is too big for a regular phone or too small for a tablet phone. Dell had launched a similar smartphone with a 5 inch screen called as Streak 5. Due to negative responses Dell stopped its production. Whether Galaxy Note will be any different or not we will have to wait and see.

Seems like Samsung has been making quite a name for itself in the world as previously, the Samsung Galaxy S II managed to get a healthy 10 million sales worldwide making it one of the most sought after smartphones after the iPhone. In fact, if compared with the iPhone 4S, the Samsung Galaxy S II would still have a better set of hardware. SGS II aside, the world now focuses on the new tablet-slash-phone which is the Samsung Galaxy Note.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a 5.3-inch tablet which comes with its own stylus and is somewhat different than most tablets available today. It isn’t too big neither is it too small but there must be an attractive feature that makes people interested with it as this particular device by Samsung managed to get a million units shipped worldwide. Some of the countries on which it managed to get a large volume of sales include France, Germany, Hong Kong and a few others.





This particular device will soon reach the US market although there is no telling what kind of alteration will be there in the US versions. The consumer would probably be seeing an LTE version of the device.

Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1

The ASUS Transformer PRIME definitely turned around some heads as it is the first quad-core powered tablet with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor on board. The Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 inch tablet isn’t a quad-core tablet but it does have a dock as an optional accessory.

LTE is the way to go and the Motorola Droid Xyboard has that on board. This means that in an LTE covered territory, users can expect speeds around 22Mbps which is pretty fast to most people. As far as processor is concerned, the Xyboard 10.1 has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM which is the norm for most high-end tablets today. The screen on the other hand utilizes the IPS technology which means that it features color accuracy unlike any other tablet much like the technology behind the Kindle Fire or the iPad for that reason. It also has a stylus as well.




Right now it is powered by Android Honeycomb which is geared to tablets mostly. The default UI given by Motorola can be choppy at times. On board the Droid Xyboard are a few additional applications installed by default such as Amazon Kindle, Evernote (this is where the stylus comes in handy), Madden NFL 12 and a few others. Starting at a price of $530 for a 16GB version, we’re not pretty sure that this is one tablet worth purchasing over the Transformer Prime.

Blue Sky BL 10, also known as the Ebook BL 10 is a new Tablet by Blue Sky. This powerful Blue Sky Tablet runs on Google Android. Well, I would say that it is going to be another competitor of the world famous Apple Gadget, the iPad (What is iPad?). I have already written about another big competitor of Apple iPad, the Blackberry Rim.






One of the greatest feature or I would say the best feature in BL 10 Tablet is that it runs on VIA WM8505 (533 MHz) CPU, which is not that common for an Android Tablet, other tablets are usually powered by the Intel Atom Processors.

So overall, BL 10 is a 10.1-inch touch-screen light weight Android Tablet by Blue Sky which comes with a 0.3 Megapixel webcam, wi-fi, USB 2.0 port, headphone-microphone jack, upto 32 GB of NAND Flash Storage of and other power packed features.

RAmos W7 is yet another Android Tablet which is now available in China and very soon it would be ready to compete with other tablets like HP slate, Apple iPad and other android tablets. The competition is really tough in the Chinese market.

The features and specifications of the RAmos W7 includes Android 1.5 OS, which is a little disappointing because android tablets like Dell Streak comes with Android 2.1, which is an advanced version of Android.

Other features include 600 MHz rocketchip processor, 128 MB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, 4.8 inch touch screen display, Wi-Fi and flash lite.




RAmos W7 Price and Release Date:

This powerful android tablet is now available in the market and the price of this tablet is around 999 Yuan, which is almost equal to $146, which is very much affordable. The price is reasonable than Apple iPad and other Android Tablets.

Ramos W7 Android Tablet is being awaited by people of China, it is expected to do very well in the Chinese Market.

Verizon Introduces 4G LTE

If this past year has been considered the year of the tablet, the coming year seems to be even more so. Verizon has now introduced two brand new 4G LTE Android tablets in the market, just as promised. Originally the Motorola Xoom 2 tablets, they are now rebranded as Verizon Droid Xyboard tablets. Pretty strange name, huh? But we may just remember the name because it is so unique!

Initial Impressions of the Xyboard Tablets

There are currently two version of Xyboard, an 8.2” tablet and a 10” one too. Thinner than the original Xoom and more angular-looking, that is, more in line with the Droid RAZR, both the tablets are powered by a 1.2 dual-core processor, run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and come with 1GB RAM each. They are also equipped with the LTE radio, which is an added plus.



These tablets were released quietly, without much ado, just about the time the Kindle Fire came out into the market, also just before the entry of the Asus Transformer Prime.

Though they look stylish, the power and volume buttons are situated at the back. This feels really strange for a user. The other problem is the rather steep price of the tablets. Of course, LTE adds to the pricing factor, but still, we thought it was rather highly priced. On contract, the pricing starts at $429. An additional charge of $30 per month is levied on this plan, which makes the total seem really expensive.

Right now, there is no Wi-Fi version. Maybe that would bring down the price a tad bit. We are also hoping that the Xyboard would offer Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich at a future date. That would make the tablets such a pleasure to own….

The Live from Sony Ericsson will be powered by the OS offered by Google, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS platform. Additionally, the users will get Facebook along with the software that will help them to find out latest media files online. Also, the concurrent music and social medial features are integrated with this new Smartphone.

This latest walkman Smartphone – Live – sports the processor of 1GHz speed along with a superb screen resolution of 480 by 320 pixels. The screen size is 3.2 inches. The 5 Mega pixel rear Camera has auto focus functionality and 720 pixel video recording facility (High Definition). Apart from it this latest gadget carries front camera (VGA) if you frequently make video calls.
Other hardware specifications include 320 Mb RAM, extendable memory of 32 GB, a card slot for Micro SD chips. Networking technologies like DLNA, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are embedded as well. Battery is of 1200 mAh.
Along with these features it will also have xLOUD audio from Sony Ericsson. The Sony Ericsson Live will be available in two colors – Black and White during the fourth quarter of this year.

LG Nitro HD to come to AT&T, adds to its LTE devices

AT&T 4G LTE network isn’t as comprehensive as Verizon’s but there are already two LTE devices on which is available on AT&T which are the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and HTC Vivid. However, AT&T decided to add another device to its LTE contract plan which is the LG Nitro HD.

What is unique about the LG Nitro HD is that it uses an AH-IPS display which gives stunningly accurate graphics. In addition to that, it also uses a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm APQ8060 processor. What’s good about this device is that it comes with a 4GB internal memory but that’s not all as there is also a microSD card slot on which a 16GB card was given by default. This means that it is also possible to push the device to a whopping 36GB (32GB + 4GB internal).



It is powered by Android and with the LTE network it support, the speed is tremendously fast as it can receive up to 21Mbps. However, the LG Nitro HD is an energy sucking device so even though it is equipped with a 1,830 mAh battery, it may not be sufficient for the most demanding of users so it may be best to have a backup when needed.

Google confirms 10 billionth Android app download

Google's hugely successful mobile operating system Android has hit a new milestone with the iOS rival confirmed to have surpassed 10 billion app downloads through the Android Market.

Continuing to expand at a staggering rate Google made the announcement via its official blog stating that the smartphone and tablet platform is now racking up a massive one billion app downloads per month despite having taken 22 months to secure its first billion downloads.

Android App Sales

Still looking to catch Apple which revealed earlier in the year that its iPhone, iPod and iPad servicing App Store had reached 15 billion downloads, Google’s Android offering is growing at an expansive rate with the open system included on a wide variety of devices from the market leading smartphone powerhouse that is the Samsung Galaxy S II to budget handsets and questionable tablets.



"Apple announced the 15 billion download mark in July so it's clear that Android's momentum in device activations is translating to application downloads and usage," Geoff Blaber, an analyst with CCS Insight said.

Looking to answer the question being posed by many he added: "We'd expect Android to overtake Apple in application downloads in the first half of 2012."

Cheap Android Apps

To celebrate its 10 billionth Android app download Google has revealed that for 10 days it will be offering a host of key and premium apps for just 10 pence each. Whilst this might be a simply way for the Android platform to rocket to its next billion downloads, anything to save us a few pennies is warmly welcomed.

Angry Birds Advent Challenge officially announced

Further to last week's exclusive on Rovio's festive plans for Angry Birds, the mobile media company has announced all the official details. Fans of the flingable feathery fowls can enjoy 25 Winter Wonderland-themed levels over the Christmas period, as well as a special festive challenge on December 5th.

The magic fifth level is exclusive to the Chrome version of the game and presents fans with access to a special festive microsite. Rovio has teamed up with Samsung to give fans the opportunity – via this microsite – to win a selection of Samsung Galaxy Mobile devices as well as giving them access to loads of other content such as videos, holiday e-cards and of course the Angry Birds advent challenge.



“The holiday season is all about giving back and giving thanks, and this year we wanted to thank our millions of fans by giving them some great Angry Birds experiences,” said Rovio’s CMO, Peter Vesterbacka. “Not only are they receiving 25 new levels in our Advent game, but they’re also getting a chance to win the best Samsung products around and participate in a fun advent challenge.”

Google now testing Ice Cream Sandwich internally

This process, known as dogfooding, is a common way of testing software before a public release. Naturally this has set tongues wagging, and we're expecting the latest build of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, to become widely available to the public fairly imminently.

The news comes courtesy of Google's AdSense policy applications and signals developer Adel Saoud who posted this earlier today:





"Just got Ice-cream Sandwich update on my Nexus S & it's looking great :)".

He went on to say that, "...it's an early one for Google employees so we test it further so it's even more awesome when you guys get it. So sadly I can't comment on it more at this time..."

The posts were taken down fairly quickly, but not before they'd been well circulated on Google+ and other websites.

We'll have our fingers crossed that this means we'll be seeing Android Ice Cream Sandwich sooner rather than later, but it could still potentially be a number of months before anyone outside of Google gets their hands on the highly anticipated OS.
