The launch of Android based gadget, the Sony Xperia Ion, was announced on Monday although a release date or price details have not yet been announced. The handset is expected to be launched in a few months, in LTE 4G network of AT&T’s. Overall, it looks to be the best Xperia brand of Sony smartphones to be launched till date. Specifications

It has a 4.6 inch display (HDMI), 12MP camera, TV launcher interface and a sleek design. It has 1280 x 720-pixel display resolution that uses Sony Bravia Engine. However, the best part of the now Sony turned Sony Ericsson is its camera quality which is unmatched by most mobile manufacturers.



Using With a Dock

The Sony Xperia Ion can be used with a docking arrangement and thus a larger display can be obtained. The dock is extremely much similar to the Motorola Webtop experience that can be used in gadgets like Droid Razr and Droid Bionic. One can view photos, play music, and send texts from the comfort of the sofa at home. Sony also claims that the phone is capable of being controlled by a TV remote!

The Sony Tablet S isn’t really one that everyone is familiar with. Sure, a lot of people have heard about the Apple iPad or the Amazon Kindle but not really the Tablet S. However, the Sony Tablet S is one that should be considered upon especially when it comes to a reputable company such as Sony.

The Sony Tablet S is an Android tablet device with a 9.4-inch screen which has a ten-point detection. In addition to that, it also has the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor which means that it is capable of doing computing in 1GHz. It is also equipped with a GB worth of RAM and comes with two flavors which are 16GB and 32GB respectively. It has a 5MP camera at the back and another VGA (0.3MP) camera at the front for video calling purposes.



Good thing for those that would want to have a look at this device because Sony is now slashing $100 off of its price tag. This would mean that users can get one of these for only $400 for its 16GB variant or $500 for its 32GB variant. At this price tag, it is comparable to other famous slates such as the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus or the ASUS Transformer.

The Software

The Live from Sony Ericsson will be powered by the OS offered by Google, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS platform. Additionally, the users will get Facebook along with the software that will help them to find out latest media files online. Also, the concurrent music and social medial features are integrated with this new Smartphone.



The Hardware

This latest walkman Smartphone – Live – sports the processor of 1GHz speed along with a superb screen resolution of 480 by 320 pixels. The screen size is 3.2 inches. The 5 Mega pixel rear Camera has auto focus functionality and 720 pixel video recording facility (High Definition). Apart from it this latest gadget carries front camera (VGA) if you frequently make video calls.

Sony and Hitachi to collaborate for 4-inch iPhone 5 LCDs shipping

Hitachi has tied up with Sony to start shipping 4-inch LCD panels for a new Apple iOS gadgets. While the 4-inch panel deal is on, both the firms have begun shipping the LCD display for the iPad 3 gadget which is really cool.

Retina Display with Higher Resolution

While all the tablets that are available today offer resolution 1024×768, however the fact that makes this tablet special is; it is the first tablet to use Retina Display and it offers 2048×1536 resolution which is remarkably awesome, offering improved text rendering and crisp images. Apple is also planning to lengthen the screen size of iPhone 5 by 8mm. The phone is expected to have a metal casing as well.



The Good News

The good news is; Hitachi and Sony are planning to merge with Toshiba to collaborate their mobile screen production which will lead to the formation of Japan Display Co. No wonder, Apple contracts come with a lot of challenges as one such challenge is in the arena of backlighting because Apple has been reportedly trying to find a source so that it can illuminate the problem of extra pixels in the iPad 3 screen.

Sony Reader WiFi drops $20 to $129.99, additional $50 off with trade-ins

There’s the Nook by Barnes & Nobles, Kindle by Amazon and now there is the Sony Reader WiFi but with the two devices aforementioned costing a lot lesser than the Reader WiFi, Sony just had to cut the price of face stiff competition with the other two devices.

As expected, the Japanese company had officially deducted $20 from its retail price of $149.99 to $129.99 effective immediately. However, the price given by Sony is still nowhere close to the Nook nor the Kindle as the ad-free version of both cost only $99 which is $30 cheaper than the Reader WiFi. In terms of purchases, that is enough to buy at least 3-4 books for any of the devices.



However, Sony’s promotion doesn’t stop there as the company also mentioned that should the customer trade-in any eReader with Sony, then the price of the product will be slashed by another $50 bringing the price to $79.

The Sony Reader WiFi is the company’s newest range of eReader which was released a few months ago. Like most new eReaders, this one is also touch sensitive and comes with a stylus as well. However, it also faces stiff competition with the Nook and Kindle as the two are one mainstream eReader devices in the market.

Sony Ericsson U10i Aino Reviews

If the Satio is the big, brash, headline-grabbing, yet ultimately underwhelming star of the Sony Ericsson show, it’s the Aino that plays the more staid and modest yet ultimately more impressive supporting role. In other words, while the Aino doesn’t have an awe-inspiring 12.1-megapixel camera or a full touch-screen interface, it does make for a much better handset overall.

The first thing that impresses with the Aino is its build quality. It’s back and sides are finished in soft touch plastic that feels nice and doesn’t show up fingerprints and scratches half as much as the oft-preferred glossy black. The screen is also very tough so should resist scratches well. Sliding the phone open doesn’t reveal any weaknesses either thanks to a sturdy all-metal mechanism. All this strength does result in the phone weighing a fairly hefty 135g, despite relatively slim-line dimensions of 104 x 50 x 15mm, but we think it’s a small price to pay.




I also like the buttons that sit below the slide-out mechanism. Despite being quite small and low-profile, they are easy to locate and thanks to a short and sharp action they respond quickly. As a consequence, you’re always sure when you’ve pressed a button or not, which is great for typing speed and accuracy. In fact, the Aino’s numpad puts many full QWERTY and touch-screen-enabled rivals to shame.

Moving back to the screen, it’s not just its solidity that impresses, it’s also great to look at. While its resolution of 432 x 240 pixels is not the highest, it still provides ample room and can show enough detail to make browsing the web and checking email a non-too-laborious task. Moreover, due to very impressive black levels, rich colours, decent brightness, and class-leading viewing angles, it’s simply a joy to view. This makes every aspect of using the phone easier and more enjoyable, and obviously lends itself well to watching video, which the phone excels at (though you’re required to re-encode your files to a compatible resolution and format as with most handsets).

It supports a resolution of up to 320×480 pixels and the display screen is 3-inches wide. You might get disappointed since the brightness of the display is just average and it also requires manual adjustment every time you step out. Apart from that; the absence of an ambient light sensor is a big letdown.

Android 4.0 for all models of Sony Ericsson Xperia from 2011

Sony Ericsson promises to update the entire range of Xperia handsets launched in 2011 in Android 4.0 platform
Sony Ericsson phones list included in the program contains models like Xperia Arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia Ray, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Pro, Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro.

Update packages will arrive soon perhaps, the exact date varies depending on the model, but not earlier than November.

Sony Ericsson has issued similar news and shortly after the announcement of the Xperia phone line for 2011, but then it was updated to version 2.3.4 of Android Gingerbread platform.


Ice Cream Sandwich promises to be the first truly universal version of the Google Android operating system, scalable to a wide range of devices, from compact smartphone models and up to the big screen tablets.

Among the features discovered so far in Android 4.0 includes a face recognition and support for selective focus camera, activated by voice recognition function. Improvements list is of course much higher but remain a well guarded secret until the big launch.

On the long list of phones in the new program, we can only appreciate the effort of Sony Ericsson to maintain range of smartphone to date with the latest releases in software. The gesture was sure to be appreciated both for current customers and those who preferred to wait until 2012 for the newest smartphone offer.
