The Sony Tablet S isn’t really one that everyone is familiar with. Sure, a lot of people have heard about the Apple iPad or the Amazon Kindle but not really the Tablet S. However, the Sony Tablet S is one that should be considered upon especially when it comes to a reputable company such as Sony.

The Sony Tablet S is an Android tablet device with a 9.4-inch screen which has a ten-point detection. In addition to that, it also has the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor which means that it is capable of doing computing in 1GHz. It is also equipped with a GB worth of RAM and comes with two flavors which are 16GB and 32GB respectively. It has a 5MP camera at the back and another VGA (0.3MP) camera at the front for video calling purposes.



Good thing for those that would want to have a look at this device because Sony is now slashing $100 off of its price tag. This would mean that users can get one of these for only $400 for its 16GB variant or $500 for its 32GB variant. At this price tag, it is comparable to other famous slates such as the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus or the ASUS Transformer.

Legal Siri Port is released official

Grant Paul and Ryan Petrich are the two hackers who have recently introduced a Siri port which brings the entire voice assistant’s functionality to any jailbroken iOS5 gadget.

Unique Feature

Unlike other Siri ports; what makes this Siri port unique is the fact that it is legal. Actually, the previous attempts failed as obtaining files was a cumbersome task and it also involved copyright issues; however the Spire uses a unique method to obtain files necessary for Siri which relieves it from the copyright issues.





Pros and Cons

But, like everything in this world has its own share of pros and cons, likewise Apple still requires authorization to use Siri, which means you will have to use a proxy. Till the time there is no solution for jailbroken iPhone 4S, Siri port is a matter of using the phone’s own authentication tokens. Also, Paul believes once the iPhone 4S is jailbroken, no proxy server would be required.

Those of you who wish to have Spire can download it from Cydia now. Also, Spire uses about 100MB of data which means a Wi-Fi connection is a must have.

Verizon Introduces 4G LTE

If this past year has been considered the year of the tablet, the coming year seems to be even more so. Verizon has now introduced two brand new 4G LTE Android tablets in the market, just as promised. Originally the Motorola Xoom 2 tablets, they are now rebranded as Verizon Droid Xyboard tablets. Pretty strange name, huh? But we may just remember the name because it is so unique!

Initial Impressions of the Xyboard Tablets

There are currently two version of Xyboard, an 8.2” tablet and a 10” one too. Thinner than the original Xoom and more angular-looking, that is, more in line with the Droid RAZR, both the tablets are powered by a 1.2 dual-core processor, run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and come with 1GB RAM each. They are also equipped with the LTE radio, which is an added plus.



These tablets were released quietly, without much ado, just about the time the Kindle Fire came out into the market, also just before the entry of the Asus Transformer Prime.

Though they look stylish, the power and volume buttons are situated at the back. This feels really strange for a user. The other problem is the rather steep price of the tablets. Of course, LTE adds to the pricing factor, but still, we thought it was rather highly priced. On contract, the pricing starts at $429. An additional charge of $30 per month is levied on this plan, which makes the total seem really expensive.

Right now, there is no Wi-Fi version. Maybe that would bring down the price a tad bit. We are also hoping that the Xyboard would offer Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich at a future date. That would make the tablets such a pleasure to own….

600D or 60D?

Canon has a lot of cameras that have video recording capability. In fact, it’s Canon EOS 5D Mark II is considered the benchmark for all video DSLR as it is simply the best in the market. However, we shall be focusing on two of its video DSLR which comes with a tilt LCD: the EOS 600D and 60D.

The two is almost similar with each other with the 60D being the mid-range camera while the 600D is an entry-level camera. Both camera sports the same 18.0MP sensor but one visible difference between the two is that the Canon 60D comes with an LCD screen at the top much like the higher end DSLRs while the 600D does not have it.




In addition to that, in terms of continuous burst, the 60D comes with 5.3 fps while the 600D has 3.7 fps. Both DSLR has the same ISO ranging from ISO 100 to 6400 but in terms of shutter speed, 60D is slightly faster with the fastest being 1/8000 seconds while the 600D is 1/4000 seconds. The weight of the 600D on the other hand is approximately 200g lighter than the 60D at 570g while the 60D stands at 755g.

It could be said that if one wants to get a video DSLR at a lower price, then the 600D is a good buy as it cost almost $200 cheaper than the 60D. However, for a more powerful camera with a bit more functionality, then the 60D is better. Either way, users will definitely be satisfied with any.

Yes you read correctly. quantum dots. These tiny nano sized particles have been researched over at the University of Toronto for some time and new uses have been discovered here recently.
These little dots will be used as micro solar panels. They efficiently turn light into useable electricity and this can cheaply be manufactured to provide ways for numerous people to power their electric devices.




The idea to use quantum dots for electricity is not new, however it never really took off before or became something useable. in the beginning their was only one layer, which only harvested one single wavelength from the sunlight. However, the researchers over at The University of Toronto have come up with an ingenious fix: add more layers. They successfully added on a second coat and now researchers are aiming for the sky as they make plans to add even more layers to increase their strength.

The main goal of researchers is to achieve viable efficiency of 10% in five years. Hopefully this can be achieved, and more. Soon we may see our electric bills drop which will make everyone cheer!

HP deciding fate of webOS today?

HP is reportedly deciding today whether to keep their webOS operating system or to sell it off after HP confirmed that it would cease production of both the HP TouchPad and their smartphone range.

According to PreCentral HP's CEO Meg Whitman has apparently called for a general meeting of all the senior-staff in the company today to come to a final decision concerning the OS.

This will be the second decisive decision made by the companies CEO Meg Whitman after she made the bold move of regaining control of HP's PC division following speculation as to whether the company would permanently move into software.



The company had originally planned to sell of both the mobile and OS divisions of the company in an effort to try and gain back some of the money spent on buying Palm, however this is now the issue under discussion after the HP TouchPad experienced huge sales when it was drastically dropped in price.
