Only several days have passed since Sony launched their NEX-C3, Panasonic answer with their new Lumix. This does not affect the title of the UCIL from Sony, but takes the crown for the Lumix family. The device dimensions are 108 x 67 x 32.5 mm and the body’s weight with battery and card reaches 264 g.
In direct comparison with Sony NEX-C3, it is shorter by 2 mm and high with 7 mm. Panasonic insisted to provide an integrated flash directly above the lens mount. The screen of 3″ on the back is touch sensitive as in the case of Panasonic GF2, thus justifying the reduced number of buttons.
12 MP sensor of its predecessor has been preserved for Panasonic Lumix GF3, but now allows the 3.8 fps at full resolution. Filming 1080i now has focus by pursuing the subject. Its minimum ISO value is increased to 160 and is used to focus a new system based on the contrast difference.
Panasonic GF3 boasts with the subject focus in only 0.1s when using the 14-140 mm objective. The new member of the Micro Four Thirds devices, will be available on the market in July. Price for the one with fixed 14 mm objective will be $700. In August, those interested can purchase Panasonic GF3 with 14-42 mm objective for $600.
