Sony releases

24 megapixels is a lot regardless for any type of consumer-grade camera but Sony decided to put that much capability to its new NEX-7 camera which sports a 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor. The NEX-7 is an upgrade to Sony’s mirrorless NEX-5 and NEX-3 which also has interchangeable lenses. In fact, NEX-7 is a bit bigger as compared with the NEX-5 and NEX-3.

The NEX-7 is marketed to those wanting SLR quality photos but without the big, bulky size of an SLR camera as well as to enthusiasts. In fact, one of its key features includes a 1080p60 video recording capability which allows its users to take full HD video at a whopping 60 frames per seconds (imagine the size of these videos!).

ISO sensitivity can be pushed as far as 16000 and as low as 100 much like any digital camera. In addition to that, it also has an electronic first-curtain shutter which reduces the response time from 0.1s to 0.02s thus reduces shutter lags significantly.

Those already have Sony Alpha lenses need not fret as they can be used with the NEX-7 with the purchase of LA-EA2 mount. This allows them to use any of the lenses that they have with autofocus capability as well.
