LG 55-inch OLED HDTV- Coming Soon

LG is all set to introduce a huge 55-inch OLED HDTV in January 2012. The new OLED technology is expected to deliver exceptionally good color quality along with response times.

Features of OLED HDTV

The super-slim panel is surely going to blow you away! What makes this HDTV unique from its counterparts is the 100,000:1 contrast ratio as well as broader color gamut which contributes in giving it a response time which is 1000x faster than LCD’s. Also, LG is going to unveil “White OLED” which vertically stacks red, green and blue diodes on a white diode base. If large-scale OLED is to take on LCD as well as plasma, those cheaper manufacturing costs will be essential.

LG’s Strategy Behind it

It is true that for a long time, LG has been into OLED TVs which are small yet expensive. That has forced LG to come up with something big but there is no word about the retail launch of this OLED TV.

With the new set, LG is trying to demonstrate how AMOLED systems which are commonly found and used in smartphones can effectively be extended to bigger panels used in television gadgets.
