A bit Limited Recording time

PlayStation Suite: Getting Ready for Non-Sony Android Devices

Sony is planning to make its platform available on other non-Sony devices, Sony Computer Entertainment Chairman Kaz Hirai said.
Present Scenario
At this point of time, the platform is only available to Sony Ericsson Xperia play, Sony Tablet P and Sony Tablet S. In an interview with Hirai, it was confirmed that Sony was discussing with non-Sony companies so as to bring them onboard. Earlier in September, Sony claimed that it would soon be releasing an SDK for the PlayStation Suits which would help all game developers in creating a game that would run on all PS Certified devices. This covers PS Vita, Sony Ericsson Android smartphones, PS3 game console as well as Sony Android tablets. Unfortunately, the SDK would not be available in the markets until November.

What’s Expected
Also, Hirai said that the motive of PlayStation Suite platform is not to make it to limited to the Sony family, instead make it available to other platforms as well. Though Sony has declared this big thing but it is not yet certain as when it would be released since company’s own next-gen portable gaming gadget, the PS Vita, is not yet set to be launched.

Android film rentals now available in the UK

Google's film rental service for Android has made its way to the UK, with Brits now able to borrow films from the Android Market.

Over 1,000 movies are available to rent in the Video app with prices starting from £2.49 a pop. New titles like Hanna are available alongside older movies including Monty Python's The Meaning of Life and that 2008 classic Vampire in Vegas.

When you rent a film, you can watch it any time within 30 days of purchase, with 48 hours to play with once you've hit play.

Android: The Movie
The service has been up and running in the US for some time now, but Google has been making a concerted effort to bring its media products over to the UK of late; Google Books has finally launched on our fair shores, and Music By Google is unlikely to be far behind.

You can also rent movies from Google-owned YouTube in the UK, a service that is also compatible with Android handsets and Google TV – it's not yet clear if the two services' film libraries are the same.

One company that will be pleased to see Google's film offerings proliferating across more devices is Miramax, which recently said it is hoping to work closely with Google for digital distribution.

Other options for the mobile film viewing public include Facebook, where you can rent Warner Bros and Miramax movies for a small fee, while iOS users can turn to the LoveFilm iPad app to stream films from the web.

Samsung shipped more smartphones than Apple in Q3

The phone manufacturer willy-waving contest shows no sign of abating as a Samsung insider brags that the company shipped more phones than Nokia or Apple in the last quarter.

The Wall Street Journal cites "a person familiar with the situation", who said that Samsung shipped more than 20 million smartphones in the three months ending 30 September.

Apple has already revealed that it sold 17.1 million iPhones in its quarter that ended 24 September, while Nokia claims to have shipped a mere 16.8 million smartphones.

Sale wars
Samsung and Apple are currently pitting their legal teams against each other in a global patent dispute that has already seen several Samsung phones and tablets banned in a number of countries.

Both companies have also announced major new handsets since the close of the quarter in question.

Apple's iPhone 4S is already on sale and selling well (4 million sold in the first weekend) – and even the rarely-humble Apple conceded that iPhone sales dropped off towards the tail end of the quarter as the public awaited the new handset.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is set to find its way to shop shelves in early November and, as the flagship Android 4.0 handset, it's likely to do very well in the run up to Christmas.

Nokia is somewhat of a wildcard though; it is set to unveil the first round of its Windows Phone smartphones at Nokia World next week and no one really knows how well they'll be received.

Best Android tablets in the world

Asus Eee Pad Transformer

We love the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. It's been around for a while now, but in our opinion, it's still the most compelling Android tablet available. Not only is it powerful and well featured, it's designed to work with a keyboard dock which turns it into a fully-fledged Android-powered netbook. The fact is that Android as an OS is still lagging behind iOS in terms of tablet usability, so products need a USP.And on that score, this is the tablet that changed the game. Look out also for the Asus Eee Pad Slider which comes packing a slide-out keyboard - it's coming soon and promises great things!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

While the Transformer offers something a little different at an unbeatable price, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 offers a direct alternative to Apple's iPad 2. Sporting the Tegra 2 dual-core CPU, it's both marginally thinner and lighter than the iPad 2. This is some achievement, especially when you consider the fuss Apple made about how thin and light the iPad 2 was on launch. If you want an iPad-like tablet that's not an iPad, this is the one. The prices are the same as the iPad 2 !

Sony Tablet S

As a veritable mega-giant in the consumer tech universe, Sony's landing on Planet Tablet was always going to be interesting. Blasting off alongside the fold-in-half Tablet P, the Tablet S has a unique wedge-shaped design and top-end specs. It's a very decent and refined tablet, and has the unique feature of having access to original PlayStation games. The only issue is that it's not as tidy as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and not as versatile as the Transformer. Apart from that, it's one of the best Android tablets out there.

Firefox on Android: Announced New Interface to Boost up Firefox Performance

Unlike Safari, Mozilla Firefox is quite rare on mobile phones and Smartphones and that is why Mozilla has decided to introduce whole new Firefox on Android user interface that will serve great performance.

Increased Processing Time

According to Mozilla, Firefox on Android is a critical part of supporting the open web. The all new Firefox interface is certainly going to speed up Firefox on Android gadgets, which ultimately implies less memory usage as well as quick start-up and smoother panning as well as zooming. When it comes to compare Firefox with the integrated browser on Android, the very first factor which matters is the start-up time because it is seen that Firefox generally gets out of the memory pool if sits ideal for a long time.

Whole New Interface

In an interview with Nightingale, he said after substantial discussions we have decided to introduce a new version of Firefox on Android with the all new interface. It’s only the interface which will change; otherwise the browser will continue using the underlying Gecko engine for processing Web page elements. Nightingale said; by the end of next week we will be clear with the work ahead in our minds.

RIM giving away free apps as compensation for outage

the company behind the fading Blackberry devices are giving away a handful of application worth almost $100 as compensation for the Blackberry service outage that had rendered a lot of the devices all around the world useless for quite some time. Some of the applications that are being given away include SIMS 3, Shazam Encore and many more. There is no telling how much the company is losing due to the compensation as well as the outage.

The timing for the outage couldn’t even be more troublesome for the company as the Apple iPhone 4S was scheduled to be released at the same week on which the outage happened. The outage definitely gave the people at RIM a PR nightmare as people all around the world criticized the company heavily. The places affected by the outage spanned all across the globe as users not only from the United States that were affected but also in parts of Asia, Europe, South America and many more.

RIM was once a dominant name in the mobile industry but now the company is slowly losing fans because of competing companies such as Google and Apple, two giants that are now slowly gaining shares that was once RIM’s.
