Microsoft to launch full Office suite for Apple's iPad tablet?

Microsoft looks set to openly embrace bitter rival Apple with new reports suggesting the PC giant is to bring the full Office suite to the Apple iPad in a selection of premium applications.

The reports, which come via iPad exclusive newspaper The Daily, have claimed Microsoft is ‘actively working’ on bringing Office to the iPad with the likes of Microsoft Word, Excell and Powerpoint to challenge Apple’s own branded Pages, Numbers and Keynote software already available for the market leading tablet.

Expected to land within the coming months the full Office suite for iPad is expected to be split into a series of dedicated programme applications with The Daily predicting that in order to compete with Apple’s iWork suite each app will be priced around the £6.99 mark.

Whilst little else is currently known about the apparently upcoming Office for iPad offering, The Daily has suggested the tablet centric software will be fully compatible with Microsoft’s cloud solution Office 365 allowing users to access and amend documents on the move.

Would you welcome the introduction of Office for the iPad or are you happy enough rocking the iWork suite on Apple branded tablet? Let us know via the comments box below.
