Best Buy cuts off $50 from price of Nook Color

With the Kindle Fire released, we’d bound to see the prices of its competing devices drop to become as competitive as the Kindle Fire. Some of the devices we had anticipated the price would stumble would be the Nook Color. Our dreams did come true and Nook Color had a $50 slash but shockingly it wasn’t done by Barnes & Noble, the company behind the Nook but by Best Buy instead.

With the cut, the Nook Color now stands at a price of $199.99 instead of the original price of $249.99 making it pretty much the same price as the Kindle Fire. However, this deal is only limited to Best Buy so far but we are expecting B&N to do the same and issue the cut on their website as well. Suffice to say that it is the only way that they can stay competitive in the business as the Kindle is a device not to be reckoned with in terms of popularity.

The cut would further reduce the profit received from a Nook Color by Barnes & Noble. In fact, they may make a loss out of the each device sold similar to what Amazon is experiencing with its Kindle Fire as well. Nevertheless, the reduction in price would definitely cause an increase in demand and in the end that is all that matters.
